The Tarkiln Bayou State Park offers three different trails.  The Perdido Bay Trail is the longest of the three at 6.5 miles round trip.  The trail mainly follows a dirt road and parallels Perdido Bay for part of the trail.  The trail may be overgrown in areas with knee-high grass.  Also, expect to get your feet wet on areas of the trail where swamp water will be anywhere from a few inches to 2 feet deep.  At the trailhead you will find a restroom, a couple of picnic tables, and a pay box(honor system).  Leashed dogs are allowed on the trail, but not on the beach.
