The Blackwater Heritage State Trail is a wide, paved trail that heads out of Milton and connects to the Military Heritage Trail which leads to NAS Whiting Field. The trail crosses a few roads, so watch for traffic. Hikers are welcome on both trails. Bikers are only allowed on Military Heritage Trail if wearing a helmet. Equestrians are only allowed on certain sections of the Blackwater Heritage State Trail and not allowed on the Military Heritage Trail. See links below for more information.
Directions To Trailheads
South Trailhead - From the intersection of US-90(Caroline St) and FL-87(Stewart St) in Milton, head East down US-90 for 0.3 miles. Turn right on Canal St. Travel 0.9 miles, staying to the right at road splits to continue on Old US-90. Turn left at Old Tar Plant Rd and the small parking lot will be on your left.
North Trailhead - From the intersection of US-90(Caroline St) and FL-87(Stewart St) in Milton, head North for 0.8 miles. Turn right onto CR-191 (Munson Hwy). Continue 4.3 miles and make a left at the sign for NAS Whiting Field Golf Course onto CR-87A (East Gate Road). Travel 1.3 miles to the parking lot on the right.
